Excerpts from the book: "Unknown to many, Egbe Orun is as important as Ori, the spiritual essence of the destiny of any man. It is because the Ori of Òrúnmìlà worked for his good that gave Òrúnmìlà the popularity that he has till date; just like all the Òrìsà. If the Òrìsà wants to help a human and the Ori of the human refuses, there is nothing that the Òrìsà can do. In the same way, no matter the effort an individual makes in a bid to better his life or push away evil, if his Egbe does not subscribe to it, all the effort will be nothing. Good fortunes can be coming to the individual and his Egbe will be throwing it away. In my own opinion, when a man desires something from his creator, Ori and Egbe are the first deities to appease before any deity because they are both about the intrinsic content of the beleaguered man...."

Ẹgbẹ́ in Yoruba language means society or group. Such societies or group are formed like our earthly societies to fulfill certain purpose, mission and objectives. Ẹgbẹ́ has been described as Enikeji orun, the partner or mate in heaven. This second person can be our look alike, our fraternal twins, friend or mere associate. However, the concept of alter egos and double spirit, the non-biological look alike of a person has appeared in stories, myths, religious concepts and traditions of many cultures throughout human history.
